Paris: Rohan Bopanna and Adam Pavlasek rode the roller-coaster in their French Open second-round match against the 13th-seeded Frenchmen Fabien Reboul and Sadio Doumbia late on Friday.
The Indo-Czech pairing, who played together in Rome and Geneva, securing a match win in their two tournament outings coming into Roland Garros , saved their best tennis for the last. The duo rallied to score a thrilling 6-7 (2), 7-6 (5), 6-2 win in two hours and 13 minutes.

Bopanna and Pavlasek jumped to 3-1 and 4-2 advantages before they were broken in the eighth game. The French pairing then played a strong tie-break. When Bopanna, 45, and Pavlasek, 30, trailed 1-3 in the second set, they looked to be out of it, but showed great energy in turning the match around. They converted on their third set point in the tie-break.
Bopanna and Pavlasek then ran away with the decider. The story of the match, however, lay in the breakpoints converted. The Indo-Czech combine created 13 opportunities and converted eight. Reboul and Doumbia converted three of three.
Next up for Bopanna and Pavlasek are the second seeds — Finland’s Harri Heliövaara and Britain’s Henry Patten.
In another second-round clash, India’s Sriram Balaji and Mexico’s Miguel Reyes-Varela lost to the fourth-seeded Italians Simone Bolelli and Andreas Vavassori 3-6, 4-6.
Meanwhile, Hitesh Chauhan and Manas Dhamne came through the junior boys’ qualifying draw.
