Urmila: Comedy is a challenging genre

Send Push
Actress Urmila Sharma, who is currently seen in the show Happu Ki Ultan Paltan has lately been part of many such comedy shows like Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!, Jija Ji Chhat Par Hai, FIR and May I Come In Madam? The actress talks about the difficulty of doing comedy on screen.

She says, "I feel comedy is the toughest genre to act for. It's just not the script that you read and perform. As your performance needs a lot of attention from the audience, you need to look a little funny and make your onscreen personality likewise that the audience enjoys watching you. Even you need to convey through the body language. This type of drama blends positive and negative forces in conflict, creating humour, especially through dynamic exchanges between two characters. I truly enjoy performing it."

Talking about her role in the show Urmila adds, "The show has unique humour and entertaining storyline. I entered the show recently to play the female protagonist Rajesh's mother (Geetanjali Mishra). My entry spiced up the drama as I'm quick-witted, and always hungry and team up against Katori Devi Singh who plays the male protagonist Happu Singh's ( played by Yogesh Tripathi) mother."

Apart from comedy, Urmila has played prominent roles in shows like Kumkum Bhagya, Nath– Zewar Ya Zanjeer and Mann Sundar. She has also featured in films like Raanjhanaa and Life in a Metro.
