Elon musk's 'top secret' notes from Trump cabinet meeting go viral: What netizens are saying

Send Push
President Donald Trump met his cabinet for the first time yesterday, since he dropped the Tariff bomb on the world and then also paused it for 90 days. The meeting saw all the big names from the Trump cabinet, but what seemed to catch the attention of netizens was Elon Musk , to be more precise, his notepad.

As photos of the meeting made the rounds online, the Tesla CEO was seen seated with a name card, pen, an empty glass, and a notepad. The words “Top Secret!!” scribbled in blue ink across the notepad — a mysterious and dramatic touch that quickly fueled speculation and jokes across the internet.

One user posted the picture of his notepad and captioned it as, “Elon Musk at the Cabinet Room table with a pad in front of him that said “Top Secret”. On the way out I asked @elonmusk what his top secret information was and if he had a sketch for a new car under there.” Another user commented hilariously, “He 100% wrote it himself with that pen.”

However, another user took a dig at the Trump cabinet members who were recently involved in the Signal chat leak. They wrote, “Top secret? Better get it on the Signal group!” Some observers speculated that a recent remark may have been a veiled reference to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s response to the ongoing public dispute between Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and Donald Trump’s top trade adviser, Peter Navarro, over tariff policies .

When asked about the exchange, Leavitt remarked, “Look, these are obviously two individuals who have very different views on trade and on tariffs. Boys will be boys, and we will let their public sparring continue. And you guys should all be very grateful that we have the most transparent administration in history.”

Another takeaway from the meeting was that Elon Musk has yet again reduced the expected savings by his team. While campaigning for Trump in 2024, Musk had claimed he could eliminate $2 trillion from the federal budget. After being appointed to lead DOGE following Trump’s return to office, that estimate was reduced to $1 trillion for the upcoming fiscal year.

However, during the recent meeting, Musk announced a new, significantly lower target. “I’m excited to announce that we anticipate savings in ’26 from reduction of waste and fraud by $150 billion,” Musk told Mr. Trump, referencing the fiscal year beginning in October 2025.
