Limescale is a menace anywhere in the but it is particularly annoying inside as it blocks the flow of water and makes the metal fixtures look a mess. Many people do not realise that the inside of a showerhead needs to be but moisture and can attract so it is best to clean it out every three months.
is one of the best natural ways to remove limescale but many people dislike using it due to its strong smell that will be very pungent in an enclosed space like the bathroom. Instead, Tommy, an expert from , has shared that one simple yet unusual way to get rid of limescale is to use fizzy cola.
Tommy said: "Most cola drinks contain citric acid, tartaric acid, and phosphoric acid, all of which are present in cleaning supplies for bathrooms.
"Cola beverages can be highly excellent at clearing the build-up of limescale and minerals from your shower head, though they might not be as good at making a shine."
It may seem bizarre, but cola can be incredibly effective at cleaning away limescale due to its acidic ingredients.
Limescale is made up of minerals like calcium carbonate that are left when water evaporates or is heated and will begin to build up over time.
Cola will naturally dissolve these minerals and break down any hard water stains, so you will have a completely clean showerhead without using a harsh chemical cleaner.
How to use fizzy cola to remove showerhead limescaleAll you need to do is first give your showerhead a quick wipe with a damp cloth to help loosen up any dirt on the outer surface.
Then, take a plastic bag or sandwich bag and fill it halfway with fizzy cola. Hold the bag over the showerhead, and make sure the shower nozzles are completely submerged in the solution.
Carefully secure the bag by using elastic bands, and make sure it is tied up properly before you let go of the bag.
Then, leave the showerhead to soak for at least an hour to give the cola time to break down the limescale. However, if you want to deep clean the showerhead and ensure that all the limescale is removed, leave it overnight.
Once the time is up, remove the bag and use a damp cloth to wipe around the nozzles. Your shower should now be completely clean with increased water pressure as the limescale blockage is gone.
If using cola is just too strange for you, you can also or even use that will leave your showerhead spotless.
