Trent Alexander-Arnold has taken to social media ahead of his last match as a Liverpool player. Earlier this month, the right-back confirmed he will be leaving the Reds when his contract expires at the end of the season.
He is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, with the European heavyweights contemplating persuading Liverpool to release him early so he is free to participate in next month's revamped FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
The Liverpool faithful have had mixed feelings about Alexander-Arnold in recent weeks, even before his departure was officially announced.
There was a split among the away fans when he came off the bench to score the winning goal against Leicester City last month, and a significant portion of the Anfield crowd targeted him with boos during the 2-2 draw with Arsenal two weeks ago.
He remained on the bench during last Monday's 3-2 loss to Brighton, with Arne Slot admitting he faces a tough decision over whether to give Alexander-Arnold any more playing time in the final match of the season against Crystal Palace tomorrow.
Ahead of his momentous match, Alexander-Arnold took to social media showing off his bespoke boots - one boot commemorating the year he joined Liverpool's academy in 2005 and the other marking his exit in 2025 - alongside a poignant caption: "20 years. Gave it everything."
Jurgen Klopp, during his emotional return to Liverpool since his departure, aligned with Mohamed Salah's view, lamenting the jeers Alexander-Arnold faced from sections of supporters.
Both Klopp and Salah have been criticised in some quarters by Reds fans on social media for their stance on Alexander-Arnold's turbulent exit.
Alexander-Arnold has made an incredible 353 appearances for Liverpool since his debut in October 2016, notching up 23 goals and a whopping 86 assists as well as an array of silverware', including two Premier League crowns and a Champions League triumph, and securing the title of PFA Young Player of the Year in 2020.
