Rasmus Hojlund has reacted on social media after Ruben Amorim excluded him from a third consecutive Manchester United squad this evening. United start their Carabao Cup campaign with a clash against League Two side Grimsby Town at Blundell Park, entering the second round for the first time since 2014.
The Red Devils were in the hat earlier than usual this season due to their lack of involvement in European competition. Amorim named a strong squad on the east coast, despite facing fourth-tier opposition, as he searches for his first win of the campaign after a disappointing first two results.
However, there was no room for Hojlund in the travelling party after his absence from the 1-0 defeat against Arsenal and the 1-1 draw with Fulham in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old striker is closing in on a season-long loan move to Serie A champions Napoli, which will include an obligation to buy him next summer.
Hojlund was thought to be desperate to stay and fight for his place at United, who he grew up supporting before sealing a dream £72million transfer from Atalanta in 2023.
But Amorim has brutally shut the door, essentially forcing him out of Old Trafford as one of a series of exits set to go through before Monday's summer transfer deadline.

Hojlund is expected to join Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia through the departures suite in the coming days.
And after Amorim insisted that he had accepted his sudden exile professionally, the Denmark international showed his class on social media ahead of kick-off tonight.
Following the announcement of Amorim's starting lineup and bench, Hojlund shared the post on his Instagram story with the caption: "C'mon today boys."
Benjamin Sesko, signed to replace Hojlund earlier this summer, will make his first start as a United player at Grimsby.
