Ruben Amorim continues to enjoy the support of Manchester United's hierarchy following their setback against Brentford. The Portuguese boss had hoped to secure consecutive Premier League victories for the first time when facing the Bees, yet United endured another disappointing afternoon at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The Manchester Evening News claim that Amorim maintains the confidence of Old Trafford's decision-makers, with no successor being considered. United were compelled to issue a statement last month confirming Amorim's position remained secure after the shock Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town. The triumph over Chelsea had lifted spirits, though United failed to capitalise on that momentum against Brentford.
Amorim has collected just 34 points from a potential 99 in the Premier League since taking charge.
Following the Brentford defeat, Amorim admitted: "I know guys. We talk about this every time our team lose [basic mistakes]. We need to work on a lot of things. And again today, my biggest concern is we didn't settle down the game in the final third.
"We missed a lot of crosses. We suffered goals in transition that we knew during the week and work on that. So that is the things that we need to improve."
When questioned about United's path to improvement, Amorim replied: "We work on everything. The frustration is that every goal, the goals today, we work on that during the week. That is frustrating.

"We can do better with the ball. We can have more control. We can understand that sometimes when the decisions are not in our favour, the momentum is not in our favour.
"We can control the ball. We can settle down the game. That is something that I know this team can do. But when everything, the moments, the penalty, the foul before the first goal, all these things are against us.
"We need to have more personality to control the games, calm down the games and then to play better. I'm sure you're not suggesting that the referee's decision contributed to the final result."
Reports have claimed that United are in talks with former England boss Gareth Southgate, in case they do end up parting ways with Amorim.
And he has already been given the green light by Luke Shaw in a glowing endorsement. In July 2024, he said: "To be honest, I don't really understand the criticism [Southgate got]. I think what he's done for the country, for us as players as well. I think he's really took us to the next level. I think no manager has really been as successful as him as what he's done recently.
"It's now another semi-final, and for me and us as players we love him. I think he's really good. He's exactly what we need. For us, he always puts the players first and for that we're able to go out on the pitch and try to be at our best.
"I think, for me, personally, I've got a lot to thank him for, because he showed a lot of faith and trust in picking me when he didn't have to. For that, I'll always be thankful. But for me now I need to repay the faith that he's shown in me."
United are set to face Sunderland at Old Trafford ahead of the October international break.
