has given his side of the story after hitting a fan with a wayward shot at the PGA Championship. The scary incident took place during Saturday's third round, while Rahm was navigating the par-four 11th hole. His approach shot dragged well wide of the green and in a frightening scene.
Rahm quickly went over to check if the fan was okay and spent time apologising with a hug and a handshake. He also signed a glove for the victim of his stray shot, who seemed to take it incredibly well. The ball rebounded to the other side of the green, with Rahm eventually chipping and two-putting for a bogey.

After finishing his round, Rahm said he was impressed with the spectator's bravery after emerging unscathed from an incident which could have been catastrophic.
"We saw the ball bounce out which, I mean, I haven't seen the ball ricochet like that in a while," said the Spaniard. "I mean, if it was a driver, you would expect it from a six-iron, that thing came in sideways quick.
"I told Adam [Hayes, his caddie] to get the Sharpie ready because I'm going to have to give him something, like a signed glove, and his response was: 'That may not be enough'. And I'm like: 'I don't know what else you want me to give him'.
"We were kind of short of things between golf clubs and golf balls and I don't think a glove and a tee is going to cut it. He took it great.
"I told him if he was European and he grew up playing soccer, if he just aimed a little better and [headed it] closer to the hole. Besides that, he definitely [took it well].
"It's a weird moment sometimes when that happens and they're not hurt. They're so excited because they know we're going to go there and have a five-minute conversation. And yeah, he took it great. He was a great sport."
Rahm will head into Sunday's final round needing to make up five shots to leader , who stormed ahead of the chasing pack with a late surge on Saturday night.
"It's hard to express how hungry I may be for a major, about as hungry as anybody can be in this situation," added Rahm. "Just very excited to be in this position and looking forward to hopefully having a good Sunday tomorrow."
