Harriet Dart has apologised for asking an umpire to during her first-round loss at the Rouen Open on Monday. Courtside microphones caught the British No. 4 saying: "She smells really bad," about her French opponent during the game, which she ultimately lost 6-0, 6-3.
While there as seemingly no malice in her words, which were conveyed while Boisson was away from the bench and out of earshot, Dart quickly took to social media to apologise. In an Instagram story, she wrote: "I want to apologise for what I said on court today. It was a heat-of-the-moment comment that I truly regret.
"That's not how I want to carry myself, and I take full responsibility. I have a lot of respect for Lois and how she competed today. I'll learn from this and move forward." Meanwhile, Boisson responded to the comments in a playful manner on her own Instagram account, editing a can of deoderant onto a photo of her mid-serve while tagging Dove for "a collab".
While 28-year-old Dart has impressed on the courts over the years, it's not the first time that she has found herself in hot water for a clash with an opponent. Here, Express Sport breaks down an incident with Katie Boulter, as well as looking at other aspects of Dart's personal life away from the courts.
Katie Boulter clashDart and Boulter have been on a collision course for the best part of their respective careers, each athlete vying for their spot at the top of the British game. And at the Nottingham Open of 2023, it appears as though their rivalry finally started to boil over completely.
Boulter won the gme 6-3, 7-5 before jabbing a finger towards her temple in the direction of the player box - a move that Dart took issue with as evidenced by her cursory handshake and confrontation at the net shortly after. Dart then also branded her fellow tennis star "unprofessional" for her actions - while Boulter said that she made the gesture "after every match" and there was "nothing personal" between them.
It appears as though their differences have been resolved however, with Dart beating Boulter at the 2024 instalment of Wimbledon - before the pair embraced at the net. They have also played with one another for Great Britain at the Billie Jean Cup on multiple occasions, working well as a team.
A Wimbledon rant with an umpireDuring 2022's showing of , Dart faced off against in controversial fashion. While she clinched the opening set 6-4, her performance thereafter waned and she ultimately went out of the tournament in a 6-3, 6-1 loss.
However, the final point proved to be particularly controversial, with Dart furious after Pegula challenged a line call late on match point. Hawk-Eye technology ruled in the American's favour, as Dart found herself embroiled in a heated row with umpire, Paula Vieira Souza, over the lateness of the call. Her argument ultimately fell on deaf ears, and she exited the tournament there and then.
An astounding net worthWith over £2.1million to her name in prize money over the course of her tennis career so far, Dart will have racked up an impressive net worth in that time. With five ITF singles titles to her name and a record of 351-281, she has already made her mark in the world of tennis.
Meanwhile, the star has also racked up lucrative sponsorship and endorsement deals with the likes of Asics, Vitamin Well, and Yonex over the years - further bolstering her bank balance.
Relationship with Stephen FalckDart and Stephen Falck started dating in June 2022 before making their relationship official on social media. Falck is a software engineer from Norway, who has worked with a number of major fashion brands such as Calvin Klein, H&M, and Tommy Hilfiger over the years in the realm of modelling.
Speaking about her beau, Dart has said in the past: "God, I'm honestly so grateful he came into my life. He has been a really positive impact. He's so supportive of everything that I do. Now he's travelling with me full-time, which is really great.
"For someone to have no ego in anything, he's very happy to support wherever he can. Now he has actually taken over the role as my agent, which has been really good and really fun. It's been so nice that he's always there for me no matter what, through the good and bad.
"We barely talk about tennis anyway. Now we just talk when we have professional things. At home we never speak about tennis. He used to be in fashion. He was a model. Yeah, he also has a law degree."
