Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal are stepping up their pursuit of Liverpool's Darwin Nunez, having identified the Uruguayan as their top target for the summer. Despite being Liverpool's record signing at £85million, Nunez's form has dipped and it appears that manager Arne Slot is ready to let him go, with a move to the Middle East looking increasingly likely.
Earlier this year, Liverpool rejected an offer from another Saudi team, Al Nassr, but Al Hilal have since entered negotiations and been informed of the terms of the deal. According to The Athletic, no formal offer has been made yet, but transfer discussions are underway.
Al Hilal, now managed by former Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi, had previously shown interest in Victor Osimhen before his move to Galatasaray. They also considered Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko, but both players were deemed out of reach.
Nunez was once sought after by many of Europe's elite clubs following his standout season with Benfica. However, his time at Liverpool has been marked by inconsistency, with 40 goals in 143 appearances and just seven goals last season.
Aleksandar Mitrovic currently leads the line for Al Hilal after his move from Fulham, but the Saudi side are keen to bolster their attacking options with more Premier League talent.

Liverpool have prioritised bolstering their forward line this summer, a move that has affected Nunez's position at Anfield. The Reds have already secured the services of Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt for £79 million, who will join forces with Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and new recruit Florian Wirtz.
Now, Liverpool have set their sights on Alexander Isak, who is reportedly keen to leave Newcastle United. Despite having an initial £110 million bid rejected by the Magpies, Liverpool may return with an improved offer if Isak pushes for a move.
The potential sale of Nunez could fund a renewed attempt to sign Isak, especially after the recent £65.5 million sale of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich.
