Newly appointed Rangers boss Danny Rohl has touched down in Glasgow and is set to sign a three-year contract, marking the beginning of a fresh chapter at Ibrox. The 36-year-old initially walked away from negotiations last week to replace Russell Martin but made a dramatic return to the table after discussions with Kevin Muscat hit a roadblock.
Rohl engaged in talks with Rangers owner Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe, having previously been considered before Russell Martin's appointment. The ex-Sheffield Wednesday manager was the front-runner for the position after Steven Gerrard withdrew from negotiations, before Rohl himself stepped back from the role.
However, all issues have now been resolved and the former Bayern Munich coach is prepared to roll up his sleeves ahead of the Ibrox team's pivotal Europa League match against Brann on Thursday night.
Chairman Patrick Stewart and sporting director Kevin Thelwell have faced criticism over the drawn-out search for Martin's replacement, but they have now put their trust in Rohl.
Simon Jordan has been critical of Rangers' impending appointment and said: "My immediate reaction would be that there will be a degree of ambivalence from Rangers fans. You look at the fact that in recent times they put a Championship manager in Michael Beale in there and it didn't work out well.
"It looks like an uninspiring decision for the fans because they don't know Danny Rohl and have not seen much of him. I'm assuming this time round, they (Rangers) will have done their proper research into what they are getting and what they think they will achieve.
"But all I can say is that the players I know who have played for him, thought very highly of him and responded to him well. There wasn't a lot for him to work with at Sheffield Wednesday with the backdrop of a difficult football club with a difficult owner at a difficult time."
