A chef has revealed how to make your "rich and tasty" with just one additional ingredient.
On her website , bestselling author and recipe developer Nicky Corbishley shared her quick and easy recipe for spaghetti that takes just 30 minutes.
First, fry onions in a large frying pan until soft and then add garlic. Then, in go finely shopped carrots and mushrooms. Once all are cooked, add the mince and fry until brown.
Then, pour in half a glass of red wine and reduce before adding tomato puree, oregano, thyme, a crumbled stock cube, a couple of tins of finely chopped tomatoes, a pinch of sugar and a little salt and pepper.
Here is where Nicky adds sauce, the secret ingredient that makes the bolognese "rich and tasty.

This enhances the umami and adds a tangy depth that complements the other ingredients in the sauce. The addition helps the sauce gain a richness normally achieved through long cooking.
Bring it to the boil and simmer while cooking spaghetti in salted water. Once the pasta is done, drain it and it's ready to be plated up for dinner.
The sauce can either be served on top of or mixed into the spaghetti. Nicky recommends topping with chopped spring onions and grated parmesan cheese. She also suggests serving with garlic bread and green salad.
Bolognese sauce is the main variety of ragù (a meat-based sauce) in Italian cuisine and is associated with the city of Bologna.
Ragù alla bolognese is a slowly cooked sauce made with a soffritto of onion, celery, and carrot, and different types of minced or finely chopped beef, often alongside small amounts of fatty pork.
White wine, milk, and a small amount of tomato paste or sauce are added, and the dish is then gently simmered over time to produce a thick sauce. It is customarily used to dress tagliatelle al ragù and to prepare lasagne alla bolognese.
