BBC Breakfast's Louise Minchin says 'it's a real honour' as she teases new daytime series

BBC Breakfast star Louise Minchin said "it's a real honour" as she teased her new daytime series.

The TV presenter appeared on Friday's (April 11) episode of The One Show, where she spoke to hosts Clara Amfo and Gabby Logan about her new role on Rip Off Britain.

In December 2024, the BBC confirmed that Louise would be replacing Angela Rippon on the popular consumer rights programme, which began in 2009.

Louise began hosting the show in January, alongside Gloria Hunniford and Julia Somerville.

On tonight's The One Show, the former BBC Breakfast star expressed her excitement at returning for a second series of the show that she "grew up watching".

"It's such an honour to be a part of the family. I grew up watching the legends that are Gloria, Julia and Angela, so to be in the same room as them and presenting the show alongside them is absolutely amazing," Louise said.

"I love what the show does. Every time I do one of the programmes, I take something away and pass it on to my family."

She continued: "It's a real honour, and they make me laugh as well. I mean, I know it's a serious programme doing serious things, but they're just brilliant."

Louise then teased what viewers could expect from the new series, including a "very interesting" story about a dog that was adopted from Romania after being shot.

However, his new owners realised that his microchip wasn't registered with a government approved database, which meant that if the dog got lost, then it would be incredibly difficult to locate him.

Louise also discussed the importance of insurance, after a man's glass conservatory unexpectedly smashed down on him. He tried to claim money, but the company that had installed it had gone bust, so he couldn't get the money back.

"We've been helping him with that, but there's other people that have those kind of stories," Louise added, with Gabby assuring viewers that the man wasn't injured in the accident.

The new series, which begins on Monday (April 14), will also give viewers valuable tips on how to safely book a holiday, as well as featuring special scam episodes.
