But the Fire Max 11 has racked up a whopping 1,800 five-star reviews, earning it praise as Amazon's 'best-ever Fire tablet', reports . One happy customer said: "Wow, very impressed for the price.

"I've had several Fire Tablets in the past that were useful but clearly on the budget side of things. The Fire Max is a big step up in performance, screen, and build quality, but still cheap as chips, especially if bought on a deal. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, provided you can live with the locked-down nature of the device."

Another said: "Best Amazon Fire tablet ever. This is my third having had the two previous 10" models, I decided it was time to get a newer model as mine was feeling a bit slow and sluggish. Wow, what a tablet. It is ultra-thin but with an all-metal case rather than a plastic shell and it isn't much heavier than my previous model. The 11" screen is crystal clear, with ultra-bright, sharp detail due to the much higher resolution screen and with the newer processor and more memory, it is super fast compared to my older model, and it also holds its charge for so much longer."

A third said: "A superb tablet. Easy to set up. Lightning fast. Streaming image quality is flawless, and the sound is just like surround sound - I'm honestly not sure which is better, the built-in speaker sound or headphone sound. Bluetooth connected virtually instantly. All in all I'm rather annoyed at myself for not getting one of these sooner."

However, the same reviewer did note one drawback despite their five-star feedback, adding: "The only negative I can see, is the lack of crossover with my Windows anti-virus software."
