This week, the gaming industry has been abuzz with big news, as announced a price increase for one of its flagship consoles. Starting yesterday (14 April), the PS5 will see its price tags change across UK retailers. But don't panic just yet; there's still one way to secure yourself or a loved one a console without breaking the bank, as one retailer offers
Over at Amazon, enthusiasts and savvy shoppers can pick up , down from its current full price of £389.99 - that said, this model will be one experiencing a price increase, meaning this console's RRP is £430 as of Sony's new changes.

- Australia Standard PS5 with disc drive – AU$829.95 (up from AU$799.95)
- Australia PS5 Digital Edition – AU$749.95 (up from AU$679.95)
- New Zealand Standard PS5 with disc drive – NZ$949.95 (up from NZ$899.95)
- New Zealand PS5 Digital Edition – NZ$859.95 (up from NZ$799.95)
For those less tech-savvy or unsure of what this means, PlayStation released their PS5 console in two models: and , mirroring the likes of Xbox have their and . This means that only the digital editions are currently experiencing the price increase. The price of and the PS5 Slim model remain unchanged.
These are some pretty lethal price increases for consumers, and they aren’t a nice change for players still hoping to play the current generation of games.
That said, there is something left for players, as PlayStation also revealed that there will be price decrease to accommodate these changes, in hopes that players will be able to get stuck in by downgrading their purchase to and upgrade later on. The new Disc Drive prices are as follows:
