Autumn delivers plenty of wet weather which can prompt moss to colonise patios, but if you're fed up with constantly scrubbing it away then there's aneasier method to eliminate it.
Moss requires removal during this season as it creates a slip risk, but this spongy pest only needs one tiny spore to survive, and it will continue regenerating. When moss persistently returns, it can be alluring to grab chemical sprays, but not only do they seldom work but they can also leak into the ground and severely damage your garden plus local wildlife.
Stephen Fudge, a specialist from Stardust Cleaning, has disclosed there's a far easier and more organic approach to prevent moss returning, as all you require is a kettle.

Stephen explained: "One of the simplest ways to kill moss on a driveway is to use boiling water. Pouring boiling water directly onto moss spots helps break down the moss structure, making it easy to remove." Boiling water might appear straightforward, but moss cannot withstand heat and it will immediately perish once it encounters the scorching temperature.
What's brilliant about using boiling water is that it can penetrate cracks and other difficult to access spots on patios so you can ensure all the spores are destroyed and won't regrow, reports the Express.
It's one of the fastest and most efficient methods to break down moss to eliminate it entirely, whilst remaining non-toxic, so you needn't worry about damaging your garden or local environment. There are numerous natural remedies available online for getting rid of moss, such as vinegar or baking soda, but they often fail to break down the surface waxy layer on moss to effectively kill it.
Using boiling water is a cost-free method that leaves no chemicals behind and works swiftly, ensuring you have a moss-free patio or driveway within just a few hours with minimal effort.

All you need to do is fill up a kettle, boil it, and then very carefully carry it over to the area covered in moss. The biggest risk of this solution is carrying the hot water, so proceed slowly and ensure there are no obstacles in your path.
Next, hold the kettle at arm's length to avoid any water splashing on you, and then slowly pour the water directly onto the moss patch. The moss should perish almost instantly. Wait a few hours or return the next day and all the moss should be brown and wilted.
Use a broom to sweep away the remaining dead moss, and then rinse the patio with cold water. If you encounter any particularly stubborn moss, you may need to repeatedly pour boiling water on it, but it should die within a day or two. However, your patio should then be clean, safe, and slip-free so you can enjoy autumn without spending time scrubbing away at moss.
