Popstar is set to rocket into space today, making history as a member of an all-female crew.
Travelling aboard alongside Bezos' fiancée and four other women, the 40-year-old will at 9.30 am Eastern time from Blue Origin's launch site in Van Horn, Texas.
Speaking ahead of the trip, which will see the group cross the Kármán Line, Firework singer Katy said: "I'm really excited... We are all made of stardust and it'll be exciting to see them twinkle from that site and have such an appreciation for Mother Earth when we see it in that way.
"I am talking to myself every day going: You're brave, you're bold, you're doing this to ensure so many different people - but especially young girls - to go 'I'll go into space in the future. No limitations'."
This marks another surreal twist in Katy's surreal life, which has seen the former gospel singer become one of the most commercially successful musicians of the 21st century.
But although she's had plenty of highs, Katy has also had to endure a few lows, especially when it comes to affairs of the heart...

Russell BrandKaty first met her ex-husband, Russell Brand, during the filming of his 2009 comedy Get Him To The Greek, in which she made a cameo appearance. In a 2010 interview with Glamour, Katy recalled her giddiness ahead of her scene with Russell, sharing: "When he was filming Get Him to the Greek, I did a cameo with him. My scene called for me to make out with him. And on the way down the stairs after the scene, I was hopping like a bunny. I hop like a bunny when I'm happy. I get a bit childlike. He gives me the Eve jitters."
After crossing paths again at the MTV Music Video Awards in September 2009, Katy and Russell, 49, began dating, and things moved quickly from there. By January 2010, they were engaged, with comedian Russell having reportedly popped the question on New Year's Eve. The couple tied the knot at at the Aman-e-Khas luxury resort at Rajasthan's Ranthambore Tiger Sanctuary, where they wore traditional Indian clothes and carried on the celebrations for six full days.
The wedding procession reportedly included 21 camels, as well as elephants, horses, dancers and musicians. Just 14 months after the extravagant "private and spiritual ceremony" wrapped up, however, it was all over, with Russell requesting a divorce via text message. This heartbreaking moment was captured in footage for Katy's 2012 doc : Part of Me, and shows a devastated Katy collapsing in tears backstage.
Mere minutes later, however, Katy was able to find the strength to get up and perform for fans onstage. Looking back on the short-lived marriage in a 2013 interview with Vogue, Katy said: "He’s a very smart man, a magical man and I was in love with him when I married him.
"At first when I met him, he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they’re like, I can’t handle the equalness. He didn’t like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting."
She added: "Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me."
The Met Police has recently announced that Russell Brand has been charged with rape, indecent assault, oral rape and two further counts of sexual assault. The actor became the centre of a police investigation in September 2023 and was initially interviewed by police following a report by Channel 4's Dispatches and The Sunday Times.
In the aftermath of the Dispatches and Sunday Times investigation, Brand furiously denied the allegations. In the wake of being charged, he took to social media to address this development
He told followers: "I've always told you guys that when I was young and single, before I had my wife and family who are just out of shot over there, my beautiful children, I was a fool, man. I was a fool, man, before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an imbecile, but what I never was, was a rapist. I've never engaged in non-consensual activity, I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes. I want to thank all of you for your continuing support."
John MayerKaty's notoriously on-off relationship with singer-songwriter John Mayer can reportedly date right back to 2009 when, as reported by E! News, they swapped flirty text messages before meeting for drinks at a aftershow. It was at around that same time however that Katy met her future husband , cutting short any budding romance.
Following her 2012 divorce, Katy reconnected with John, and sparks flew. A rollercoaster three-year relationship began, broken up by multiple splits. During one break-up in 2013, Katy told Vogue: “I was madly in love with him. I still am madly in love with him. All I can say about that relationship is that he’s got a beautiful mind. Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds.”
In August of that year, the tumultuous couple released a love song together entitled Who You Love. Eventually, in 2015, Katy and John parted ways for a final time. Reflecting on how it ended in an interview with Elle, Katie said that John had “pulled away", explaining: “That was a big hello for me. I realized I could lose the person I loved, and I had to deal with some things, issues I think a lot of women have.
"You can be strong in one aspect of your life but submissive in another. In relationships, it was hard for me to speak up and set boundaries. I think a lot of that was to do with the fear of loss. The men I have gone for are challenging, yes, but they’re also wildly intelligent and poetic. I’m not interested in taming anyone. I’m pretty wild myself.”
Even though they went their separate ways, it's clear their time together had an impact. John confirmed that his 2017 track Still Feel Like Your Man was about Katy. The poignant lyrics are as follows: “I still keep your shampoo in my shower, in case you wanna wash your hair. And I know that you probably found yourself someone somewhere. But I do not really care.”
John told The New York Times: “Who else would I be thinking about? And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”
Orlando Bloom
Katy first met her now fiancé, Orlando Bloom, at a Golden Globes 2016 afterparty, where she claims he made a grab for her burger.
As Katy would later recall, during an episode of American Idol: "I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out. We were at the and we weren't together. So I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs and, all of a sudden, I see my boyfriend's hand — he wasn't even sitting at our table — he just swoops in, and he grabs it, and I was like, 'Hey, that's my burger!'"
The very next month, it became clear their connection was more than a mere flirtation after Orlando, 48, introduced Katy to his son Flynn, now 14, PEOPLE reported at the time. By May of that year, Katy and Orlando made things official, sharing a couple's snap on the steps of the luxury Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d'Antibes, France, while attending the Cannes Film Festival together.
That first summer proved to be a memorable one. The couple were papped paddleboarding while holidaying in Italy, with Orlando deciding to forgo his swimming trunks altogether. They went on to spend Halloween together, dressing up as Bill and Hilary Clinton, before celebrating Thanksgiving with Katy's parents, Keith and Mary Hudson.
A joyful festive season followed, with loved-up Orlando and Katy sporting Santa and Mrs Claus outfits in another playful dress-up moment. In January 2017, Katy threw Orlando a lavish 40th birthday bash in Palm Springs, with guests including the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux.
Everything seemed to be going perfectly for the pair, who appeared to share the same sense of fun. Then, in February 2017, the two stars parted ways, announcing they would be “taking respectful, loving space at this time.” In a September 2024 interview, Katy, who maintained at the time that the split was amicable, opened up about why this decision had been necessary.
During an episode of Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, Katy revealed: “We weren’t really in it from day one. He was because he had just done a huge time of celibacy, and he had set intentions. I was fresh out of a relationship, and I was like, I can’t do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond, but I had yet to do a lot of real work.”
Katy went on to explain how Orlando had attended a week-long retreat known as The Hoffman Process, where he “rewired” the way in which he perceived himself, including his negative behaviours. When he returned, Katy admitted she just wasn't ready for his changed approach to the relationship.
She confessed: “He wasn’t playing that cat-mouse game anymore. And I was like, ‘This is boring. I’m moving on. I was so used to this push-pull. Because once you have it. I was playing games.”
Orlando and Katy remained friends after the break-up and didn't seem to have a bad word to say about each other. On a June 2017 episode of James Corden's Spill Your Guts, Katy even claimed that Orlando was the second-best lover she'd ever had, outranked only by John Mayer.
In the months that followed, Orlando and Katy were seen out and about together, sparking rumours of a reunion, even visiting the Vatican together in April 2018. The following month, Katy confirmed she was no longer single during an episode of American Idol, and, by September, she and Orlando looked besotted once more while walking the red carpet together forthe Gala for the Global Ocean.
Shortly after 2019, Katy and Orlando announced they were engaged, with Katy later recalling the sweet moment during an interview on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp. She remembered: “It was Valentine’s Day and I had to work that day. I just remember meeting him at dinner at this place, this Italian restaurant, because when I get a pass, I just want to stuff my face with pasta.
"So I get there and, I mean, he’s like clean-shaven. He’s not wearing tennis shoes. I’m like, ‘Ah shit, something is going down!’ We were ordering everything, and I was like, ‘Who is this person?!’”
The following month, the couple moved in together, and, in March 2020, Katy announced they were expecting their first child together. Little Daisy Dove Bloom entered the on August 27, 2020, with the proud new parents issuing the following statement via social media: "We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter."
Now, almost a decade on from their first meeting, Orlando and Katy appear to be just as much in love as ever. During a 2024 episode of the What Now? with Trevor Noah podcast, Orlando declared that he wouldn't change their relationship "for anything". He continued: "Because we've got these two giant careers and lives, and hers is even, you know... it's like a universe sometimes. But I think I just keep coming back to her and trying to hold her hand and walk her back to the sand pit and be like... we're just gonna build a sandcastle."
