A young boy and his family have had what was supposed to be a fun day out turn into a nightmare when a women hurtling down a slide crashed straight into him.

Six-year-old Gleb was having fun in the pool in a water park in St Petersburg, Russia, he had just come off another ride and his dad was carrying him across the water. Butdisaster struck, when from a separate slide a woman's feet smashed into his chest. Gleb’s dad seemingly ignored all the safety warnings and whistles from lifeguards, walking in front of the exits of the slides when the unsuspecting woman hit the boy.

The shocking moment was captured on CCTV and it showed the moment the woman struck him at the Rodeo Drive Water Park while his father held him in front of the slide just before the impact. It comes after a dad dies in scalding hot bath as family slam hotel management for 'ignoring warnings'.

After the incident the boy was rushed to hospital and taken to the intensive care unit after suffering “a rupture of the left lobe of his liver and internal bleeding in the abdominal cavity”.

Russian authorities have begun investigating the incident and have opened a criminal case after the severity of his injuries. The case is focusing blame on the boy's father who dragged him across the water, rather than the woman who had no idea what was about to happen.

In a statement they said: “After sliding down into the pool, the child was picked up by his father, who began walking towards the exit from the slide area,

“Despite warnings from water park staff about the potential danger of a collision with another visitor descending the slide, the man failed to respond. As a result, a collision occurred, and the child sustained bodily injuries and was urgently hospitalised.”

The news comes just days after the The UK's biggest indoor water park expressed its "shock" and "sadness" after a little girl died following an incident on Monday, August 4.

The girl was found in a critical condition and treated poolside in the Lagoon area of Waterworld in Hanley, but despite the best efforts of staff and paramedics the four-year-old girl was declared dead in hospital.

She had been found unconscious at the attraction following the incident, but the circumstances of how she got there are now being investigated.

Staffordshire Police are making enquiries and supporting the girl's family along with the waterpark that attracts up to 400,000 visitors every year.

A Waterworld spokesperson said yesterday: "It is with great sadness that we learned of this young girl's passing later this evening. All our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during these extremely difficult times."
