War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, witnessed a sharp drop in its box office figures on Saturday, as it managed to earn Rs 33 crore approximately on the third day of its release. Despite its clash with Rajinikanth's Coolie, the film has not lost steam yet, and it is steadily inching towards the Rs 150 crore mark.
According to industry tracker, Sacnilk, War 2, which released on August 14 to cash in on the Independence Day long weekend, opened with a whopping Rs 52 crore on its first day. On Friday, it saw a slight surge in numbers and earned Rs 57.35 crore. However, looks like the fandom for both Hrithik and Jr NTR has lost steam as it saw a major dip of 42 per cent on its third day, and earned Rs 33 crore.
The total box office collection of War 2 now stands at Rs 142.35 crore.

But the fact that the film has inched so close to the Rs 150 crore mark within three days is commendable given that it is locking horns with superstar Rajinikath's film, Coolie. It is to be noted that the difference between the box office collections of both the films is not much as Coolie is now poised at Rs 158.25 crore.
It will be interesting to see if War 2 will be able to bridge the gap and overtake Coolie in the box office race in the coming week.
