Shardiya Navratri 2025 Starting Date: Does Sharadiya Navratri begin on September 21st or September 22nd? This question arises because the Pratipada date of the Shukla Paksha of the Ashwin month, which is essential for Sharadiya Navratri, falls on both days. This could create confusion regarding the correct date of Sharadiya Navratri. To address this issue, today, with the help of Astrologer Dr. Mrityunjay Tiwari of Maharishi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University, Ujjain, we are telling you when Sharadiya Navratri begins. When is the first day of Sharadiya Navratri?

Start of Sharadiya Navratri
According to the almanac, Sharadiya Navratri begins on the Ashwin Shukla Pratipada date. That day is the first day of Sharadiya Navratri. This year, Ashwin Shukla Pratipada Tithi begins on Sunday, September 21st, at 9:24 pm, and will be valid until Monday, September 22nd, at 9:18 pm.
Generally speaking, Ashwin Shukla Pratipada Tithi falls on two days: September 21st and 22nd, but the Udayatithi of the Navratri fast is recognized. Therefore, at sunrise on September 21st, it will be Ashwin Amavasya Tithi, while at sunrise on September 22nd, it will be Ashwin Shukla Pratipada Tithi. Based on this, Sharadiya Navratri begins on September 22nd.
