Foxes Never Quit apparently. Well their fans and players alike gave up in this one. The King Power Stadium was nearly empty at the finish apart from a small section of Newcastle fans in one corner.
Ruud van Nistelrooy never had trouble scoring for but his Leicester team do. But Jamie Vardy nearly netted just 10 seconds in, saving at his near post.
“We’ve had a shot,” sang the home fans almost in celebration. A minute and 45 seconds later, Newcastle had broken the deadlock, Murphy slotting home from Tino Livramento’s cross with the Foxes defence non-existent.
Then on 11 minutes and it was two. Fabian Schar was so close to a wonder goal from his own half but the effort hit the bar. With Leicester’s defence sitting and admiring the effort, Murphy reacted quickest to tuck home the rebound.
“You’re not fit to wear the shirt,” screamed the Leicester fans. It got so bad that some Foxes supporters even cheered after Barnes added the third on 34 minutes. He started and finished a fine move putting into an empty net after ’s shot had been saved.

Alexander Isak shot wide shortly afterwards after James Justin had needlessly given the ball away. Leicester’s season was summed up as Patson Daka’s 20-yarder just before the break hit both posts before the offside flagged went up.
Newcastle, still without Anthony Gordon whose thigh injury on England duty ruled him out despite returning from suspension, continued to create chances in the second half.
Schar was unlucky with another powerful effort from 20 yards that was held by Mads Hermansen as Newcastle cruised in the second half. Leicester threw on 15-year-old Jeremy Monga in a desperate bid for something positive.
And they so nearly scored in the dying stages, Wout Faes heading wide from a Faucundo Buonanotte corner.
